Academic Enrichment Foundation

The District 205 Academic Enrichment Foundation is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization established in 2001 by community members committed to increasing excellence in education.

The purpose of the Foundation is to draw together the various resources of individuals, businesses and community groups who are interested in enhancing educational opportunities throughout Thornton Township High School District 205.

Resource development includes soliciting donations from individuals, corporations and foundations, as well as funding from special events, corporate matching gifts and deferred giving.

How the Foundation Works

The Foundation is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees who are dedicated to educational excellence for all students in District 205.

The Trustees, operating independently from the District 205 Board of Education, are responsible for selecting projects, determining guidelines for project funding, and for dispensing funds.

Mission Statement

The mission of the District 205 Academic Enrichment Foundation is to acquire and distribute resources in support of Thornton Township High School District 205 for programs and projects aimed at enhancing, enriching and supplementing learning opportunities for students, staff and the community.

Foundation Goals

The Foundation will achieve its mission by directing support toward the following goals:

1. to promote student development

2. to encourage teacher and staff creativity and excellence.

3. to promote the school district as a center for parent involvement and community learning.

4. to encourage school-community partnerships.

Ways to Contribute

There are many ways you may contribute. A check or pledge is a common method. Other forms of donating include matching funds, challenge grants, memorials, inclusion in a will or a beneficiary of a life insurance policy, donating real estate or other real property, or giving a gift in someone's name.

Your support is essential to the success of the Foundation.  Regardless of the size of your donation, be assured that it will be gratefully received and put to work for maximum benefit in promoting educational excellence.

A Shared Vision

The Board of Trustees of the District 205 Academic Enrichment Foundation has established a list of educational enrichment projects that will enhance and expand learning opportunities for the students in our high schools. Through generous grants from businesses, community and individuals, the Foundation will work to provide academic enrichment that will lead to improved achievement of our students. It's a win-win opportunity. District 205 invites you to share the vision by joining our team.
