Some of the many activities that have been funded or partially funded by the District 205 Academic Enrichment Foundation are listed below:

  • Student Science Camp 2005 in Southern Illinois – meteorological and geological activities and study of the food chain.

  • Thornton Poetry Club/Wildcat book to promote literacy.

  • Snacks for Thornton Speech Team for school year.

  • Students Mississippi River Science Experience the Mississippi water shed connects to the sea.

  • Field trip to International Museum of Surgical Science for anatomy and physiology students.

  • Advanced Digital Film making camp in Los Angeles 

  • Student Science Project to understand the concept of decomposition and the importance of improving and conserving the earth.

  • Congressional Student Leadership Conference at Lake Forest College.

  • Thornton student landscape and create a natural setting in one courtyard using traditional Illinois Prairie plants.

  • Partnered with District parent coalition to act as the vehicle for funds raised by the parent coalition to establish a year book at each site.

  • National Young Leaders conference in Washington, D.C.

  • Lorenzo de Zavala youth Legislative session sponsored by the National Hispanic Institute.

  • Thornridge Mural Project.

  • South Suburban College Education Summit.

  • Crow Canyon Archeological Dig.

  • “Journey to Freedom” visit to the United Nations, Statue of Liberty and “Ground Zero” for a better understanding of the sacrifices made for freedom.
