Dear Parent, Guardian and/or Community Member,
Due to not meeting Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for the last five academic years, all three high schools in District 205 are in federal restructuring status under No Child Left Behind (NCLB). As a result, District 205 must approve a restructuring plan by January 9, 2008. This plan must be submitted to the Illinois State Board of Education by February 1, 2008.
There are four main options for restructuring in Illinois. These options include:
The Board of Education needs parents and community to be involved in helping to restructure the schools. Each high school will host a strategic planning public forum, followed by at least four committee meetings to assist the Board in developing a restructuring plan. The public forums will be held on the following dates:
At the forum we will begin the process for restructuring using the following three committees: Curriculum and Personnel, Finance and Facilities, Community Relations.
The impact of federal restructuring on the education and finances of District 205 is extremely important. The Board of Education urges you to participate in this process. Please attend a public forum at your local high school.
Sincerely,
District 205 Board of Education and Administrators |
