Thornton Class of 2007 and West Point bound Manuel Ledezma attends Illinois State Board of Education board meeting.
On Thursday, January 18th, Thornton senior, Manuel Ledezma, addressed the Illinois State Board of Education at their monthly meeting held at the James Thompson Center in Chicago. Manuel was asked to address the board on behalf of the Career Development System and Thornton Township High School. His comments were made during the public participation portion of the 2 day board meeting. The goal was to thank the state board for continued support and funding of Career/Technical Education programs and Project Lead the Way as well as the impact and benefits that these programs have for all students. Manual was eloquent in his comments to the Board as he spoke from the heart about his experiences and fielded several questions after his statements. Board members were very impressed with his comments and his success. Manuel who recently was accepted the nomination to West Point Academy from U.S. senator Dick Durbin is a member of the varsity track team, member of Students Against Violence (SAVE), secretary to National Honor Society, and currently ranks 1st in the senior class.
