Degrees and Certifications:
On September 18, 2013, I was hired to serve as the Interim Superintendent of Thornton Township High School District 205. It has always been my vision and goal to pave the way for our students to be successful in any endeavors they pursue. With that being said, it is with great pleasure to announce that all three high schools in District 205 have been approved for the International Baccalaureate® (IB) Program. IB offers four high quality international education programmes to more than one million students in more than 146 countries. The IB supports schools and teachers to provide a rigorous, high-quality education, offering professional development that improves pedagogy and leadership.
Additionally, as we are all aware, there has been incongruity amongst the board members and there has not been a majority vote to pay the district’s bills. I was required to make an executive decision. Following the law as outlined in the Prompt Payment Act (30 ILCS 540/0.01), I have paid the bills according to their scheduled due date. As a result of my decision, I am proud to announce that the District has maintained financial stability and Moody’s Corporation has given us an Aa3 credit rating (Obligations rated Aa3 are judged to be of high quality and are subject to very low credit risk).
According to the Illinois State Statue (105 ILCS 5/3-0.01) Dr. Vanessa Kinder, Executive Director of the South Cook Intermediate Service Center 4, has been given the authority to appoint/fill any board vacancy that has been vacant for more than 45 days. Therefore, I would like to congratulate and welcome Mr. Ray Banks as our newest member of the District 205 Board of Education. I look forward to working with Mr. Banks and the other board members as we continue to make strides towards accomplishing the goals of District 205. Furthermore, it is imperative that we unite as one and put the needs of our children first.
The students of District 205 are on the rise!
