Gravity Drop Lab
Students in Mr. Sievers physics classes used newly acquired equipment in physics to determine the value for the acceleration of gravity. Students used infrared photgates to determine the velocity of a freefalling steel ball at various positions. Then they used laptops to make position-time and velocity-time graphs from their data. They calculated the slope of the velocity-time graphs to determine the value for gravity.
