  • PARCC Tests

Changes in testing beginning March of 2015.

Assessments mandated by the State of Illinois, PARCC (Partnership for the Assessment of College and Career Readiness) will begin on March 9, 2015.  Students who are enrolled in English III and Algebra II are required to take the new PARCC which replaces the PSAE.  The PARCC is a computer based exam which will be administered during two different times.  The first will occur between March 9th and March 27th and the other between April 27th and May 22nd.  Students taking the PARCC will be scheduled to test for two to three days during these testing windows.

In order to facilitate testing, students will miss valuable instructional time and cause a disruption to many classes including classes where students are not being tested.  We assure you we are doing our best to minimize the disruptions and remain focused on engagement with high quality instruction on a daily basis.  Our students who are involved in the PARCC have been provided the opportunity to navigate a sample test in one of our computer labs trying to alleviate any test anxiety students may have.

There has been much publicity over the PARCC and the Common Core state standards.  It has yet to be determined if this assessment will provide the necessary learning data on student growth, teaching and learning.  If you would like more information on the PARCC please visit the website www.parcconline.org.  Thank you for your continued support as we navigate through these new assessments.
