Response to Intervention (RtI)
Welcome to the District Response to Intervention page! Response to Intervention, often referred to as RTI, is a problem solving approach to provide additional supports for struggling students. We believe that education is a shared responsibility of the school, student, family and community and that all students can learn. Adopted by ISBE (Illinois School Board of Education), the District 205 model is based on: Core Instruction that is high quality, research-based; Universal Screenings that assess students’ academic and behavior performance; Intensive Research-Based Interventions based on data that will remediate specific areas of concern and; Progress Monitoring.
RTI provides targeted and intense academic supports to students in order to enhance or increase their motivation for learning and overall academic success. It addresses the reasons for academic failure and is intended to help as many students meet proficiency standards. RTI is NOT a method for increasing or decreasing special education numbers. District 205 uses a 3 tier model of service delivery to efficiently differentiate instruction for all students.
