    * Only two external (non-District 205) credits may be applied to graduation requirements, requiring prior written approval by the student's counselor to ensure the proper credits are being met.
     
    * Students can only apply one external credit per academic subject.
     
    * A final exam, administered by the approved institution, is required of all students taking external courses.

     PLATO
    • An internal credit recovery form must be completed with the counselor and submitted by the student, with payment to the main office.
    • Courses will be $80 per semester
    • Courses are done online
    • Students must complete 24 lesson plans per semester
    • Students must attend class here at Thornridge after school
    • Students may also work ahead in lessons from home to speed up the process of completing all 24.
    Students MUST register and pay first, students should not show up without doing so.  In order to do so, the Internal Credit Recovery Form must be completed and signed by the student's counselor then submitted to the main office with the payment.

    NOTE: Only students who failed a class with a 50-59% are eligible for PLATO (below 50% MUST take TWILIGHT)

    • Courses are regular classroom sessions with a teacher
    • Students must complete 24 sessions
    • Students may not be absent for more than two days.  If so a grade of "F" will be awarded, no refund
    • Classes will begin once a minimum of 15 students have paid in full for the course
    Students MUST register and pay first, students should not show up without doing so.  In order to do so, the Internal Credit Recovery Form must be completed and signed by the student's counselor then submitted to the main office with the payment.
     

    NOTE: Semester 1 failures - are taken during Semester 2 (Jan-May)

                 Semester 2 failures - are taken during Semester 1 (Aug-Dec)

    • Classes must have a minimum of 15 students paid in order to run the class.  Cancelled classes, due to lack of participants, will be refunded the money for tuition (if money is not previously owed to the district). 
    • Students will be given a date upon which they will not receive a refund should they choose to withdraw themselves from the class.
    • Students are limited to only two absences in summer school per semester.  The third absence will result in an automatic failure of the course.  Students will also be dropped after three tardies.
    • Summer school typically runs 8am-1pm, and 3-4 weeks per semester course.
    • PRICING: Courses are $50 per semester.   
    • The Summer School Agreement Form MUST accompany all applications, be sure to print and sign it and attach to your application. 
    • Please note:
      • Driver's ed will be Behind-The-Wheel ONLY
      • Students may now begin to pay for summer classes with the building cashier in the main office.  Payment cannot be processed until RESIDENCY for the next school year has been completed.
      • Robo calls and summer mailings will begin once we have the calendar finalized.
      • There are NO vouchers or waivers available. 
        On the first day of each semester, school will start ONE HOUR LATER than normal.  Busses will pick up students ONE HOUR LATER than the normal route times. 
    Any student who believes they are due a refund from last summer need to see the building cashier in the main office.

      There will be two fifteen (15) minute breaks scheduled each day, except the first and last day of each semester.  
    • Students enrolling in Summer School should plan to be in class every day, since each day in Summer School
      is equivalent to five days of regular school.  
    • One hour of instruction is equivalent to one day.  
    • Special consideration for vacations, summer camps, or early dismissal will not be granted.  
    • Credits are awarded by contact hours; which is required by State Law.

     South Suburban College
    • Student must have at least 13 credits, including PE and Health
    • A SSC application and SSC High School Special Application Form (see your counselor) must be completed with the counselor first
    • Students must test into their class of choice, and may have to take a pre-requisite course if their test score does not meet standards.
    • Math and Science courses are not recommended here due to their difficulty and past student success rate for recovery purposes.
    • It is the student's responsibility to assure the transcript with the completed credit is given to their Thornridge counselor so they may be cleared of the missing credit(s).
    • Course dates and times will vary per semester.

     BYU Independent Study (Seniors Only)
     
    BYU Independent Study’s distance education program is perfect for high school students who need to recover credit for graduation, enhance their curriculum, or get ahead. High school courses are only $124 per half ($78 per quarter) credit and will transfer to most high schools. There are options for ELECTIVE credits for as low as $49 each per semester credit (.5).  Why not take a look?

    • Seniors must sign up first with their counselor to obtain permission and registration papers.  If interested see your counselor.
    • It is recommended that Twilight or Twilight/PLATO are used as your first options.

     
     
    alternatives Alternate Accredited High School
    • Students may earn credit from another accredited high school to recover a class
    • An External Credit Approval Form must be completed with the counselor and submitted to the alternate school of choice along with the payment required for their tuition.
    • It is the student's responsibility to assure the transcript with the completed credit is given to their Thornridge counselor so that they may be cleared of the missing credit(s).
    • Course dates and times are at the discretion of the alternative school, as well as grading policy, attendance policy and behavior policy.  Students choose to accept all the terms of the alternative school when they enroll.
