Dear Title I Students, Families, and Schools,
This year began on a wonderful note for Thornton Township High School District 205’s students and families. This administration embarked on a new era in how we can better educate our children and how the state and federal agencies support elementary and secondary education.
This school year, I am encouraging all Title I Schools to try something different in an effort to better serve our students and families with limited supplemental resources. This mandate reform gives schools unprecedented flexibility in how they spend their education dollars, in return for setting high standards for student achievement, and underscoring high expectations from our highly qualified staff in terms of program effectiveness. The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) ensures more options for parents so that their children can get the best possible education.
It is my pleasure to share with you our newly developed Family and Community Engagement (FACE) initiatives. It offers a clear and straightforward Title I program-by-program components of ESSA. I hope that you will find this educational tool most helpful this school year. We have parent coordinator assigned to every Title I Schools who will work in that capacity to better serve our families and community engagement this school year. The FACE section highlights teaching best practices and core strategies for families and schools that have been demonstrated to work. In short, it aims to foster a conducive learning environment in which every child within the Thornton Township High School District 205 can learn and succeed.
