Outlook Academy integrates understanding of trauma into its framework for supporting students. This approach involves:
- Awareness and Training: Staff receive training on trauma and its effects on learning and behavior, promoting a compassionate and responsive school culture.
- Universal Supports: At Tier 1, all students benefit from a safe and inclusive environment, with strategies like social-emotional learning and positive behavior reinforcement.
- Targeted Interventions: At Tier 2, students identified as needing additional support receive targeted interventions, such as social emotional support or small group sessions focused on coping skills.
- Intensive Support: At Tier 3, individualized plans are developed for students with significant trauma-related challenges, involving personalized support.
- Family and Community Involvement: The program emphasizes collaboration with families and community resources to create a holistic support network.
