MTSS Coordinator

At Outlook Academy, we understand that students may need different types of support at different times. The MTSS Coordinator helps make sure students are connected to the right academic, attendance, behavioral, and social-emotional supports so they can continue making progress toward graduation.

MTSS stands for Multi-Tiered System of Supports. It is a schoolwide process that helps us identify student needs early, provide support, and monitor progress over time.

How I Support Students and Families

  • Coordinate academic, attendance, behavioral, and social-emotional supports for students.
  • Work with teachers, counselors, social workers, administrators, students, and families.
  • Help identify students who may need additional support to be successful.
  • Support intervention plans that help students improve attendance, coursework completion, and school engagement.
  • Monitor student progress and help adjust supports when needed.
  • Help families better understand the supports available at Outlook Academy.

When to Contact Me

Please reach out if your student is having difficulty staying on track or if you are concerned about their academic progress, attendance, behavior, or overall school engagement.

  • A student is struggling in more than one class
  • A student is falling behind in coursework or credit recovery
  • Attendance is affecting academic progress or credit
  • A student needs additional structure, organization, or school-based support
  • A family wants to better understand available interventions
  • A parent or guardian is concerned but unsure where to begin

Our Approach

MTSS is not a punishment. It is a supportive process designed to help students succeed. By working together, we can identify concerns early, build a plan, and help students develop the habits and skills needed to complete coursework, improve attendance, and move forward with confidence.

At Outlook Academy, our Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is grounded in a trauma-informed approach. We recognize that trauma can impact learning, behavior, and relationships, so we intentionally build supports that promote safety, connection, and growth for every student.

What Trauma-Informed MTSS Looks Like at Outlook Academy
  • Awareness & Staff Training: Our staff receives ongoing training on trauma and its effects on student learning and behavior. This shared understanding strengthens a compassionate, responsive school culture where students feel seen, supported, and respected.
  • Tier 1: Universal Supports for All Students: Every student benefits from a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment. Tier 1 supports include social-emotional learning (SEL), consistent routines, relationship-building practices, and positive behavior reinforcement to help students stay engaged and successful.
  • Tier 2: Targeted Supports for Students Who Need More: Students who need additional support receive targeted interventions. These may include check-ins, social-emotional skill building, coping strategies, and small-group sessions designed to strengthen emotional regulation, confidence, and academic progress.
  • Tier 3: Intensive, Individualized Support: For students experiencing significant trauma-related challenges, we develop individualized support plans. Tier 3 may include personalized interventions, coordinated services, and increased adult support to ensure each student has what they need to stabilize, heal, and thrive.
  • Family & Community Partnership: We believe support is strongest when it is shared. Outlook Academy collaborates with families and community resources to build a complete network of care around students—academically, emotionally, and socially.
Our Goal

By embedding trauma-informed practices into every tier of MTSS, Outlook Academy works to strengthen resilience, reduce barriers to learning, and support both academic achievement and emotional well-being for all students.
