Role at Outlook Academy

I provide transition-focused instruction and support for young adults ages 18–21, including employment readiness, postsecondary planning, independent living skills, and self-advocacy. I also offer individualized counseling support to address social-emotional needs, promote personal growth, and help students achieve successful outcomes beyond school.
Philosophy & Approach
My approach is grounded in listening, trust, and creating a safe, supportive space where each student feels heard and valued. I prioritize each student’s individual needs, honoring their experiences with respect, empathy, and care. By building strong, trusting relationships, I support students in developing confidence, resilience, and the skills they need to navigate life beyond school.

I support student success by integrating Social Emotional Learning (SEL) with transition skill development. Through individualized guidance and real-world practice, students build self-awareness, self-advocacy, emotional regulation, and problem-solving skills alongside employment and independent living skills. This holistic approach helps students grow in confidence and prepares them for meaningful, successful lives beyond school.
Favorite Part of Working at Outlook
The best part of working at Outlook Academy is the strong sense of community among staff and students. There is a shared commitment to supporting one another and celebrating each student’s growth. Being part of a collaborative, caring environment makes the work meaningful and rewarding every day.

Adult Transition Program/Functional Work
The Adult Transition Program supports young adults ages 18–21 in preparing for life after high school. Instruction focuses on employment readiness, independent living skills, community engagement, postsecondary planning, and self-advocacy. Students participate in real-world learning experiences designed to build confidence, independence, and meaningful connections within the community.

Social Emotional Learning (SEL)
The Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum helps students develop self-awareness, emotional regulation, communication skills, and healthy relationship-building strategies. Through guided discussions, activities, and reflection, students strengthen their ability to manage challenges, advocate for themselves, and make positive decisions that support success in work, education, and daily life.
