Role at Outlook Academy

Hi! I’m Mrs. Garza, a Math II and Math III teacher at Outlook Academy, where I work with students in both traditional and credit-recovery settings. I support learners at all levels through individualized instruction, encouragement, and a safe space for growth, helping students build confidence, resilience, and strong problem-solving skills. I also enjoy collaborating with my colleagues to create a caring, positive environment where every student feels supported and valued.
Philosophy & Approach
My approach is student-centered and growth-focused. I create a calm, structured learning environment where every activity has purpose, mistakes are normalized, and students receive individualized support to meet them where they are. I encourage perseverance, build confidence through productive struggle, and help students realize that learning math strengthens their ability to learn anything.

I want students to know that I support them through one-on-one guidance, checking in often, and helping them work through challenges step by step instead of giving answers. I meet students where they are, encourage them to keep trying, and create a safe classroom where mistakes are expected and used as opportunities to learn and grow. My goal is for students to feel supported, build confidence, and realize they are capable of more than they think.
Favorite Part of Working at Outlook
My favorite part of working at Outlook Academy is being surrounded by others who share the same passion and truly believe in our students. Our team works hard to support learners as they put their past behind them, build confidence, and accomplish something they may not have thought possible: earning their high school diploma. Being part of that journey alongside such dedicated colleagues is incredibly meaningful to me.
Professional Interests / Fun Fact
With over 20 years of teaching experience, I’ve learned that education is always changing — and so am I. Each year, challenges me to grow, adapt, and find new ways to support my students.
