Role at Outlook Academy
My name is Tiffany Stewart, and I am one of the Special Education teachers in the Adult Transition Program. In our program, we teach Functional Work skills and support young adults after high school as they explore college opportunities, trade programs, and certification pathways. My role is to help students build confidence, independence, and practical skills that prepare them for the workforce, continued education, and everyday life. Our goal is to empower each student with the tools they need to succeed in their future, both personally and professionally.
Philosophy & Approach
My philosophy and approach to working with students centers on building strong rapport and using differentiated strategies to meet each student’s unique needs. I take time to get to know our students and their families through inventory checklists and scheduled meetings, which helps create a strong foundation of trust and understanding. Because we support students with a wide range of exceptionalities within one Functional Work class setting, it is important to provide individualized support and meaningful guidance. We also maintain logs to monitor progress and update short- and long-term goals, helping students narrow their options and make informed choices about their future, whether that includes college, trade programs, workforce opportunities, or career training.
What I want students to know about how I support them is that, although I am their educator, their growth is guided by their own work ethic, effort, and vision for the future they want to create. I strive to provide the structure, encouragement, and individualized support they need to succeed. By establishing consistent routines and taking deeper dives into lesson content, I help students build understanding, retain important skills, and develop the confidence needed for success in school, work, and life.
Favorite Part of Working at Outlook
Working within the college, I am able to network/shake hands with people that will help support and advocate for our students within their community.
Professional Interests / Fun Fact
My motto is to learn as much as you can in life. I take what I am interested in, invest time, gain knowledge, operate on my own, and add to my collection of skills. From sport, education, family life, different occupations, music and collaborative relationships. I am rich in skills.
