Notice of Mandate Waiver Hearing

The Board of Education of Thornton Township High School District205, Cook County, Illinois will hold a meeting for the purpose of conducting a public hearing on May 8, 2019, beginning at 6:30pm in the Student Cafeteria at Thornwood High School, 17101 South Park Avenue, South Holland, IL 60473. The purpose of the meeting and hearing is to consider a mandate waiver request under Section 2-3.25g of the Illinois School Code. It is the intention of the District to seek approval of a waiver of that portion of Section 27-24.3 of the Illinois School Code and Section 252.20(A) of the State Board of Education’s Rules that states “….  The driver education course in which the student was enrolled at the previous school offered 30 clock hours of classroom instruction and 6 clock hours of behind-the wheel instruction.” The agenda for the meeting is as follows:

  1. Explanation of the waiver request by Division Leaders and Driver’s Education Joint Committee Representation.
  2. Hearing – Public/Employee Comment
  3. Discussion of waiver
  4. Board action on the wavier
